Come and join the St Albans Edge, a theatre-making ensemble for people aged 13-26 who live in the St Albans area. Part of Western Edge Youth Arts’ community youth theatre program, St Albans Edge meets every week on Thursday afternoon to share ideas, learn skills and create new worlds and new stories together. Over the next six months, you’ll be working collaboratively with professional artists and the Footscray Edge and Wyndham Edge Ensembles to create a new production that will tour the west in November (COVID permitting).
One week you might be exploring physical theatre techniques, the next devising rap and spoken word: you’ll get to experience the full breadth of creative expression and storytelling to find the right form for the stories you want to tell.
In 2020, we’ve had to start doing things a little differently. To make sure everyone stays safe during the COVID-19 situation, we’ve had to come up with some new ways of creating and collaborating online. There are now three ways you can get involved.
- Streaming: we will run live workshops through Zoom, a safe and secure online platform. We can only support up to 20 young people in the streaming group, so you will need to register to secure your spot.
- Sending: we will send you a creative care package via email (or postal address where necessary) to inspire and guide you through the process of theatre-making.
- Sharing: we will be posting fun and engaging theatre-making videos made by our Lead Artists and featuring Support Artists on our YouTube channel.
When we are all allowed back in a room together, we will invite all our Streamers, Senders and Sharers so we can all work together again!
