The vibrant and vivacious Kontiki Cultural Women Empowerment bring their latest exhibition featuring fashion and design techniques in this collaboration of cultures from across Melbourne’s west especially for Cultural Diversity Week.
Kontiki Cultural Women Empowerment present this celebration of fashion culture and diversity. Utilising artistic, fashion and design gara and batik ink tie-dye techniques to create stunning garments.
The not-for-profit organisation brings together women from Sierra Leone, African and non-African communities whose main goal is to build the capacity of women of all ages from refugee and migrant background. Together they build self-sufficiency, learn new skills and become connected as friends.
The women exhibit regularly in Melbourne’s West and have been a much loved feature of the yearly Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program.
